The Kelburn Viaduct Municipal Ensemble Jugband present Mid-Winter Delight
The KVme Jugband, est. 2013, perform their Memphis 1930s jazzy blues jugband music regularly at clubs, café bars, and music festivals around the country. On vocals and harmonies, banjo. mandolin, harp, kazoo, guitar, dobro, washboard, bells and whistles, T-chest bass and the all important JUG, the bands talented lineup includes:
Neil Worboys [Bulldogs Allstar Goodtime Band, Hogsnort Rupert, Wellington Heads], “Carol’s Jugs” Bean [Mt Misery Band, Blue Highways, Clean Getaway, Carol Bean Band], Slidin’ Bill Wood [3rd Octave Band, Wellington Heads], Big Baz Carter [C3Po, Valley Stompers] and Derek Burfield [Butter Wouldn’t Melt]
Each member in the band has been playing this goodtime music in some way or another since they were kids. Right through her school years, Carol was influenced by jugbands in California—specifically the Jim Kweskin Jugband.
Their two albums—Round Your Door and Stomp Around the Floor— represent the music they play including songs of Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Leadbelly and other inspirational pioneers of blues and jugband music. Their shows include original material written by Neil, Bill, and Carol.
