Before drum 'n' bass, before jungle, even before hardcore, DJ Aphrodite was doing his thing. While acid house was the name of the game, back in 1988, this man was already making musical moves. Establishing himself as a producer, and Aphrodite Recordings label owner, by the early nineties, he's been a mainstay of the UK rave scene ever since.
His collaborative project Urban Shakedown put him on the map early on with the single “Some Justice”, and he rose to global stardom following the release of his anthemic tracks “Bad Ass”, “Ganja Man”, and the legendary “Stalker” in the late 1990s. These standout recordings reflect the musical innovation of Aphrodite, that, for many, came to define the sound of nineties’ drum n bass.
Since then, Aphrodite has remained a staple of the global rave circuit, playing in countless cities and at festivals all around the world. Aphrodite’s imminent arrival to our shores will be especially significant for Wellingtonians, as this is his first time ever headlining a show in the capital city.
You can expect classic DnB tunes, remixes from his bag of exclusive dubs, and jump-up drum and bass all night long.
